Hard to say I am proud of that achievement

So Singapore Table Tennis Team had won the recently concluded World Championship.. But seriously.. Did Singapore really win it?? Or did we buy the win?

I liken this to our national football team.. gone were the days of a pure Singaporean Singapore Lions team... players like Fandi, Nasri , Lim Tong Hai and Goh Tat Chuan played with pride whenever they donned the red jersey... but now all I can see are FTs "plying their trade" in our national colours.. And if we really (not in the foreseeable future I believe) ever get into the World Cup... We have once again bought victory...

I am not against getting good results.. but a true blue sports fan like me do not want to see championships being bought especially when the media starts to put in headlines like " Singapore, we have done it" when half of the team or the whole team of any sports is packed with foreign talents... True enough, our table tennis team did sweated blood and thunder and put up a great performance.. But to me.. China Team B just won against China Team A... Worse still, I was wondering whether is it a training game???

Sure, the bandwagon for the criticism of the FTs is easy to get on.. but come to think of it.. its true.. I do not feel proud at any sports achievement garnered recently...
